Outdoor Heaters and the Challenges of Having Them

By: Kenny F Leichester

We want full comfort in every space in our home. Be it inside or outside, making our home an investment worthy of its price needs our full devotion in providing the financial requirement as well as time and effort. We want to maximize its potential to become a place where we can relax and play.
It is common for a newly bought house to undergo some upgrading work. Not only this is done to turn the house into a place the new owner wishes it be but it will only increase the value of the house. Unlike a car, a house does not loose value but it will increase over years. Unless of course the house have been badly neglected and the next owner will have to spend huge amount of money in order to repair the house.
What could be better than making the outdoor area of the home looking like a paradise? Sure it will take some time to see the end result but anyone would agree that a beautiful and well kept garden, decorated with patio umbrellas, wooden pergola and decorative vases that hold beautiful plants and flowers will increase the value of the house.
Having wood furniture further enhances the look of the garden giving the environment the look of elegance and style. Wood is the best match you can have for the earthen look of the patio and this will also drive the wood base industry further. Spoil your home with good taste; it is after all your little niche in this planet.
Modest but interesting nonetheless is what is usually associated with this English style décor. Therefore, it is widely adopted around the world.
This look is inspired by the country English homes where it is depicted by an earthy lane from the gate leading to the garden. The garden has some piece of furniture where the place can be utilized as a place to have one’s cup of tea during the warmer season’s afternoon.
An outdoor heater can ultimately turn the dream of using one’s patio during chillier afternoons into reality. The idea of having outdoor heaters to warm up the outdoor area can only be used in places that has colder season. In places that does not require artificial heating; the idea of outdoor heaters might seem overwhelming.
Some concerns were voiced out on usage of outdoor heaters as it is said to contribute in the greenhouse effect. However, it is still a small fraction of contribution compared to the damaged done by usage of cars.
The key however is a more efficient use of energy. In Japan for example, office goers are directed to wear comfortable open neck clothes and opening of windows to ease the use of air conditioning. It’s the same with light bulb, hence the use of fluorescent lights to save energy and in turn reducing the amount of emission produce each year.
Outdoor heaters are not the biggest contributor to the release of energy. This is what the experts agree. The reason being that outdoor heaters are only used during colder season for a brief period of time and not day and night what more twenty-four seven.
There has been some debate on this matter and some has even raise the idea of wearing appropriate attire for outdoors rather that to opt for artificial heating that can harm the ozone layer. It is the question of whether one would be comfortable donning think clothes while trying to relax and enjoy the outdoors. If one chooses to stay outside during the cold season, shouldn’t then the idea of having outdoor heaters defeat the purpose of enjoying the cold air?
With thousands of homeowners latching up the idea of being one with the nature, and coming out with beautiful gardens – sometimes even of the herbs and vegetable variety, the use of outdoor heaters could continue for quite sometime. Global warming might be an issue, but surely this is another excuse for going back to nature, even in the small way of having one’s own patio garden.
